PSYCHOTHERAPY

Psychotherapy or “talking therapy” is a process whereby you are helped to overcome problems or to deal with and adjust to difficult life circumstances. Psychotherapy aims to improve your well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve your relationships. The aim is to help you, the client, make sense of, and deal with, a past hurt, current difficulty, trauma or psychological distress.

The process is yours, and the space is yours, and together we come up with a treatment

plan which evolves as we go along. If you have any questions about my expertise, the

procedures I use, the process and the possible outcomes of therapy you are free to ask me. You may also ask about other possible treatment modalities and if you will benefit from any treatment that I do not provide I will refer you to another therapist/doctor.

Depending on your presenting problem you may need:

  • a quick intervention to fix a bad habit or address a current issue

  • insight to understand why you are trapped in a particular pattern or behaviour

  • a way to heal a childhood/longstanding trauma, or deal with psychological

    distress

  • medication – in which case I will refer you to a psychiatrist

The duration of psychotherapy varies and you are at liberty to tell me at any time if the

process is helpful or not and whether you would like to terminate therapy.

My book explores how, even today, you can have a happy, viable and long-lasting partnership.

What makes some couples achieve happy long-lasting relationships, while others, in spite of trying, do not?

That is the key question.

The key to a loving and lasting relationship is locked up in understanding and accepting a good-enoughparadigm.

In reading the book you will come to realise that meaningful relationships have to be re-negotiated and re-chosen in order to adapt and grow.

It is available at Exclusive Books and as an e-book through www.kalahari.com or through https://www.mybooks.co.za
